During the year 2015-16, I trained as a Primary School Direct Trainee with Yorkshire Rose Teaching Alliance and Leeds Beckett University. This programme of study helped me to become an ‘outstanding’ primary school trainee. As part of the process I had placements across different key stages in local schools in Batley. As part of the learning I completed three Masters Level modules with Leeds Beckett. These modules helped me to put theory into the classrooms and resulted in myself becoming a reflective practitioner.
The support network provided by Yorkshire Rose was amazing, Emma Rodrigues ensured I was meeting my training targets and achieving my potential by observing me in my placements, forwarding up to date research and changes in Education, monitoring and assessing my progress by working closely with tutors at Leeds Beckett as well as school based mentors and provided training days in order to increase my professional development.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learning I completed by training with Leeds Beckett. My skills, abilities, knowledge and understanding of primary teaching was excellent by the end of the course, and I was successful in gaining my first teaching post with a Year 4 class in a local school in Batley.
