As School Direct Trainees, we felt it was important to participate and present an assembly for a week (for Years 7-11) based on courage.
This encouraged us as trainee teachers to demonstrate formally our teaching skills to a larger audience and reflect upon our own development, whilst providing us with the opportunity to be part of a stimulating assembly for our students.
We thoroughly enjoyed this experience which allowed us to leave students with motivational quotes and to encourage their positive attitudes and effort within school. This has allowed us to get to know our students further and highlight to our students about their potential, strengths and ambitions. We hope to have presented a moving assembly and raised awareness of courage.
“By planning and delivering an assembly on “courage” across the school with fellow School Direct Trainees, I was able to observe and learn from the teaching practice of my peers. Subsequently, I have been able to adapt my own practice in light of the creativity and enthusiasm displayed consistently by the trainees at Batley Girls’ High School”. Raven Tolson
