Study route benefits

The School Direct primary routes will prepare you to teach ages 3-7 or 5-11, depending on which age range you choose, while the secondary routes will prepare you to teach ages 11–16, unless designated 14–19 for particular subjects.

School Direct trainees will benefit from:

  • high-quality teaching designed by Leeds Trinity University and the school partner
  • training led by the school and university tutors
  • a well-structured programme with three stages to ease you into your PGCE
  • potential employment by the lead school on completion

How to apply

We recommend that you apply as soon as you’ve made your decision. Leeds Trinity University’s PGCE courses are in demand and once target numbers are met, we can’t accept any more applications.

Once the UCAS application portal is closed, there is a 40-day decision-making process between the University and School Direct partner. Applicants who are successful will then have ten days to accept their place.
